Nichole Carey

Born and raised in a small town in rural MN, Nichole got her start singing on her father's knee to the Country legends of Hank Williams, Ernest Tubb, and Patsy Cline to name a few. Growing up she began a love affair with old Hollywood, including one of her biggest inspirations, the great Judy Garland. Her love of music is all encompassing, ranging from Queen to Fleetwood Mac, Billy Strayhorn to Gershwin, Sondheim to David Bowie, Kris Kristofferson to Radiohead, Joni Mitchell to Janis Joplin, and so much more. This is also the kind of music she loves to sing: a little bit of everything.
Starting out in musical theatre, Nichole discovered and fell in love with the art of cabaret a few years ago, thanks to her music director and partner in crime, the late local musician Stephen Dewey. In July 2012 Nichole attended the prestigious International Cabaret Conference at Yale University where she had the great fortune of working with Tony award winner Faith Prince as well as such esteemed veterans of the stage Amanda McBroom (writer of the hit song 'THE ROSE"), Sally Mayes, Carol Hall (writer of "THE BEST LITTLE WHORE HOUSE IN TEXAS"), Erv Raible, Jeff Harnar, Sharon McNight, and many more. She has been seen performing at local venues including The Townhouse, Pazzaluna's, HONEY in NE, Lundstrum Center for the Performing Arts, Jazz Central, The Nimbus Theatre, and a host of private events. She is hoping to expand her fan base to Chicago and New York City within the next few years. She is also a writer and producer having directed and starred in two sold out musical variety reviews at the Bryant Lake Bowl. Nichole recently returned as a Member of the Twin Cities Cabaret Artists Network. She is terribly excited to see where this crazy path called life takes her -- and can only hope that her voice and music will move and inspire you the same way her influences have done for her over the years.
